Mr. Rahul Mehta
Founder, Mehta Family Foundation, Houston, Texas, USA

Rahul Mehta is a technology entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was born in Mumbai and now calls Houston, Texas, home. Founded by Rahul, the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) has emerged as the largest donor committed to advancing higher education in India. Its theory of change is grounded in the belief that education plays a crucial role in economic empowerment. In collaboration with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the foundation supports pioneering fields such as bioengineering, health technology, data science, and artificial intelligence. By 2031, the foundation aims to empower over 12,000 students, including 4,500 B.Tech, 2,000 M.Tech, and 2,000 Ph.D. graduates, fostering a strong network of talent to drive India’s technological and economic future.

Recognizing the importance of modern scientific research, which increasingly depends on large interdisciplinary teams and collaboration, the Mehta Family Foundation sponsors conferences bringing together researchers from India and around the world to tackle India-specific complex challenges. Additionally, the foundation has established partnerships with leading U.S. universities to provide India’s Ph.D. students with valuable research opportunities, access to cutting-edge resources, and mentorship from world renowned professors, enabling them to advance their research and tackle critical issues.

Rahul successfully built and led four enterprise software businesses, all acquired by prominent companies—Platinum Technology, HP, Veritas, and Brocade. A lifelong learner, Rahul is a 2021 Stanford University Distinguished Career Institute (DCI) Fellow and a 2024 Oxford Next Horizons Scholar.
